Vancouver Whitecaps have announced that 16-year-old goalkeeper Chituru Odunze is to have a two-week trial with Leicester City.
The goalkeeper, who stands at 6’7″, holds English citizenship having grown up in the academy systems of Chelsea, Cardiff City and West Ham United.
Odunze is a regular for the United States Under-17 squad and also holds Canadian and American citizenship.
His two-week trial at Belvoir drive will commence on Monday (January 21) as Leicester look to bolster their goalkeeping options.
Should Leicester offer him a contract, Odunze will battle Oliver Bosworth for a place in the starting 11 of Trevor Peake’s Under-18 squad.
Odunze will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Kyle Gruno, who was a regular member of the United States youth set-up during his three-year stint as a Leicester City player.
