Leicester City Under-17s won the inaugural Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Cup at Belvoir Drive on Thursday.
The youngsters ran out 1-0 victors in the final against AFC Bournemouth, after beating Fox Hunt (Leicester City’s International Academy) in the semi-finals.
Rugby Town, who stepped in as a late replacement for Shrewsbury Town, were the other side to make up the four-team tournament.
Leicester fielded a strong squad for the tournament, which included first-year scholars Johnson Gyamfi, Leon James and Dempsey Arlott-John.
Arlott-John, the brother of Leicester Under-23s winger Kairo Edwards-John, was on fine form throughout the tournament as his vital goals steered Leicester to silverware.
Foxes players were presented with their medals by first team coach Kolo Touré, who watched the tournament with a keen eye.
The tournament, named in honour of the club’s late chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, will also be played next year and AFC Bournemouth have already been invited back to compete again.
Trevor Peake’s young Foxes now turn their attentions to this afternoon (April 13) as the Under-18s travel to Norwich City in the Under-18 Premier League. Kick-off is at midday.
