Leicester City Under-23s coach Ben Petty has said that ‘two or three’ Development Squad players will go out on loan during the January transfer window.
Five members of the Development Squad are currently gaining experience in the EFL, with Daniel Iversen (Rotherham United) and Josh Knight (Peterborough United) earning rave reviews for their performances in League One.
More players are now set to follow in their footsteps and play senior football for the rest of the 2019-20 season.
“This year, we’ve seen the team really perform and take on board the things we’ve been saying to them, and hopefully we’ll get two or three players out on loan,” Petty told LCFC.com.
“That gives them exposure and experience in the professional men’s leagues, so it’s all coming together, we’re really chuffed, and we’ve just got to keep going.”
It is felt by people close to the club that midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is one of the players who should be heading out on loan this season, with the 21-year-old said to have ‘outgrown’ under-23 football.
George Thomas and Mitch Clark may also look to continue the valuable experience they have already gained in the EFL.
