Leicester City sports scientist Tom Joel has become Lead Men’s Fitness Coach for the Iceland National Team.
Joel will continue to work with Leicester City, where he has been a member of the sports science department since 2011.
After starting out as an intern, Joel graduated from Loughborough University in 2013 and began working full-time with the Under-21s. A promotion to the first team followed a year later.
Iceland manager Erik Hamrén, who has a close working relationship with Leicester City, announced Joel’s arrival at a recent press conference.
Joel replaces Sebastian Boxleitner, who worked with Iceland around last summer’s World Cup.
