Leeds United midfielder Callum Nicell played for Leicester City Under-23s in their 1-0 defeat to Hednesford Town on Friday (July 19).

The 19-year-old penned a two-year contract at Elland Road last summer and it is unclear whether Nicell has signed for Leicester or if he is on trial.

The Foxes fielded some other fresh faces on their trip to Keys Park, including new signing Mitch Clark from Aston Villa.

There was also a start for Hastings United midfielder Adam Lovatt, who was on trial with the club last season.

In the forward areas, it is believed that former Walsall teenager Omar Mussa was handed the number 11 shirt. The Belgium youth international joined Walsall in January 2019 from KV Mechelen but was released this summer when the club were relegated to League Two.

The Development Squad are next in action when they travel to face Oud-Heverlee Leuven on Wednesday, July 24.

Notably missing from the squad were the likes of Darnell Johnson, Josh Knight, Vontae Daley-Campbell, Khanya Leshabela, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and George Hirst. The group could be involved with the first team for the friendly against Cheltenham Town today (July 20).

Starting XI vs Hednesford: Iversen; Clark, Moore (c), Kranthove, Ughelumba; Nicell, Tee, Lovatt, Mussa; Loft, Uche.

Subs: Thomas, Stolarczyk, Arlott-John, Loughlan, Ewing, Elewa-Ikpakwu, Bolkiah.

Meanwhile, the Under-18s will face Cardiff City at Belvoir Drive today.
