Leicester City have signed United States Under-17 international Zach Booth from MLS outfit Real Salt Lake.
Booth, whose brother Taylor plays for Bayern Munich, has signed for the Foxes after completing a two-week quarantine upon his arrival in England.
Speaking to ESPN, Booth said: “It was just a really good first impression with the club and the players and the coaching staff. I just really enjoyed it from the start.
“[Taylor] paved the way for me, definitely,” he said. “He’s the one that made me want to come over overseas. He gave me that drive. I just saw what it took to come over [to Europe], how hard he had to work, and I just kind of followed.”
Booth caught the eye of Leicester scouts in February of this year when he played for his country in an Under-17 tournament in England.
The club’s academy recruitment team, including Steve Travis and Bill Wall, moved quickly to sign the teenager after they heard of interest from a number of other clubs across Europe.
