Ghana teenager signs and moves to OH Leuven on loan

Leicester City have signed Ghanaian midfielder Kamal Sowah and sent him straight out on loan to Oud-Heverlee Leuven.

The 18-year-old, who previously trained with Danish club FC Midtjylland, has penned a four-and-a-half year deal with the Foxes after impressing for Sporting Club Accra in his home country.

“I’m very happy to sign my first professional contract with one of the biggest football club in England,” he told

“I give thanks to the Almighty God, my family and friends for guiding me through my career and to officials and teammates at Sporting club Accra.

“I will still need their prayers and support at my new club.”

Sowah will now link up with Belgian club Oud-Heverlee Leuven, also owned by King Power International, one loan until the end of the 2018-19 season.

He was invited to the Ghana Under-17 squad for the Under-17 World Cup in October 2017 but was blocked from attending by his previous club. The reason is said to be that he was refusing to extend his club contract at the time.
